Evilpig/Couture/etc.
I (still!) play priests, my "main" these days more or less being Couture on Gorefiend.
I started playing in 2005 because my boyfriend at the time and several of my rl friends played. I started raiding with <Angry Mob> when my toon was level 25 on a spare priest account that Ciel had because they were apparently really desperate for healers. I continued to raid MC, BWL, and ZG with them on my own toon when I hit 60. I got my first taste of "guild drama" there and learned the hard way that being an officer pretty much sucks, and that you never, ever want to have anything to do with administering the DKP. I have very, very low tolerance for in-game drama because I tend to carry over the unhappiness into my personal life, so I decided it wasn't worth it and /gquit.
I then joined <No Quarter>, where I had a great (and drama-free!) time PvPing. I made it to rank 11, which awarded me with what was at the time the most obnoxiously long title in the game: Lieutenant General. Hawt. I wasn't willing to put in the time to grind up any further than this, especially because I had observed the insanity that developed in friends who had ground out Warlord/High Warlord. After a while, the Staunton crew decided to take one of their prolonged absences from the game to go play another game, so NQ got very lonely. (Also, x-server bgs really took a lot of fun out of it for me.)
At this point my rl friends who played were mostly in <Limbo>, so I joined there, and that's been my home ever since. I did serious business raiding with them in AQ/Naxx. I think the most fun I ever had in the game was actually the 3 weeks or so before TBC came out when you could play (unranked) arena at level 60. At that point everyone had realized that all raid gear was going to be obsolete upon zoning into Outlands, so Limbo more or less quit bothering to push the last bosses in Naxx. Torquemada and I had a killer time playing 2v2 hunter/priest - a great relief from raiding.
When TBC hit, I leveled up to 70 pretty fast, but I didn't have it in me to deal with all the drama surrounding attunements, raid spots, "Team Awesome vs. Team Suck", etc. so I took a hiatus for a few months. Eventually I came back and raided BT/Hyjal/Sunwell with Limbo. This was when I got a refresher course on "being an officer sucks", so I recruited enough to replace myself and quit again.
At this point I'm still in <Limbo>, still enjoy playing "World of Mathcraft" to a certain extent, but I'm done with serious business raiding forever. I've realized that while I really do enjoy playing the game and especially using it as a graphically-improved version of irssi, I don't have fun if I have to play on a set schedule. So I do PUGs, go to Ulduar with "Team Suck" or people's alts, and don't feel one bit guilty not logging on when I'd rather be playing with the dogs, out at the bar, trying to learn how to fix things around the house, watching cheesy reality TV, etc.
I'm pretty sure that was more than any of you really wanted to know about my WoW career, but there you go.
